ACTIVATE PERTH AND FIVEIGHT SET TO ACTIVATE CARILLION CITY SPACES

Perth, Western australia

As part of Activate Perth’s Fill This Space program five new pop-up stores are set to open in Fiveight’s Carillion City in the Hay Street and Murray Street Malls.

The exciting new outlets opening include Repkulture, 29 Lines, Whadjuk Artist (Julianne Wade) and MaOchre, giving shoppers a range of new, high end and diverse retail experiences.

Repkulture features unique fashion designed in Western Australia but manufactured in Africa, supporting developing designers, with 29 Lines’ curated collection of beautiful quality fashion, baby, body and gifts, from ethical sources designers and manufacturers.

MaOchre is an Indigenous Art Gallery, originally established in Midland and now bringing featured artists, jewellery makers as well as homewares and artefacts to Hay Street Mall. Perth CBD veteran Julianne Wade will be occupying two adjacent stores on the Murray Street footbridge entrance to Carillon City, allowing her to showcase her artwork, range of gifts, clothing lines and host her basket weaving workshops.

“Activate Perth is delighted to join with Fiveight and see these exciting new retailers coming into the CBD, bringing new life to Carillion City. In the lead up to Christmas shoppers will be able to find unique offerings not seen in the suburban shopping centres,” Activate Perth’s Chair Kristi Dempster said.

29 Lines owner Helen Mewburn said, “This opportunity will enable 29 Lines to strengthen and consolidate our position as a profitable business in the future. We owe our success to the dedicated efforts of Activate Perth and their collaboration with the landlords.”

This latest activation follows on from the highly successful A Movable Feast which saw the Hay Street Mall lit up with over 1,600 guests through the archways to embark on Perth’s eye-opening gastronomic journey.

A variety of pop-up food and beverage stalls occupied Hay Street Mall-facing empty spaces within Carillon City, offering Perth’s finest fare to delight and surprise food enthusiasts, local residents, city office workers and tourists alike.

Since inception Activate Perth has connected lease agents and property owners with start-up businesses and entrepreneurs via Fill This Space. Property owners have embraced the project, understanding that filling empty spaces and supporting new business ideas assists with increasing foot traffic and reducing anti-social behaviour.

Fill This Space has seen over 60 spaces filled in the CBD since 2018. Start-up businesses have greatly benefited from the ability to trial their product in the city without the usual associated financial risks, and the program has led to new businesses being established, bringing fresh and exciting retail offerings to the city that aren’t available in the large suburban shopping malls.

“Activate Perth’s commitment to the CBD’s retail landscape will see ongoing exciting new retailers being brought into the City as we focus our efforts on the long-term future of Perth as a destination of choice for locals and visitors alike,” Ms Dempster added.
