A Moveable Feast

A resounding success!

Perth, Western Australia

Perth, Australia – The empty spaces of Hay Street Mall lit up last Thursday for Activate Perth’s inaugural A Moveable Feast, with event organisers counting over 1,600 guests through the archways to embark on Perth’s eye-opening gastronomic journey.

A variety of pop-up food and beverage stalls occupied Hay Street Mall-facing empty spaces within Carillon City from 5pm, offering Perth’s finest fare to delight and surprise food enthusiasts, local residents, city office workers and tourists alike.

Activate Perth reported total sales in excess of $32,000, with an average $19.50 spend per head, hoping the success of the event opened eyes to further after-dark possibilities of the popular mall. A number of guests travelled from outside the city to attend the event, with all surveyed thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Activate Perth Chair Kristi Dempster acknowledged and thanked key partner Fiveight for making shop fronts available in Carillion City for A Moveable Feast, saying that their support was critical to the ongoing success of the Fill This Space program.

“Fiveight provided three spaces for our chefs to offer their wonderful food over the evening which was terrific for us. They also are making these spaces available for the broader Fill This Space program following A Moveable Feast which is fantastic.

“Though there are a number of empty shops on the Mall we are crying out for empty retail outlets, with demand from emerging retailers wanting to set up in the city far exceeding supply. We hope that our other landlords in the Mall will partner with Activate Perth to fill their empty shops while they look for longer-term tenants.”

A Moveable Feast, conceived by Activate Perth in partnership with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) came following a funding injection via the CBD Revitalisation Grants and is a part of Activate Perth’s successful enterprise program, Fill This Space.
