Furniture art jazzes up inner city

Perth's Historic Heart continues to bring colour to the city's east end. The combination of plantings, seating and artworks has engaged residents, business owners, the creative community and visitors. Two jobs have also been created for previously unemployed gardeners.

An art competition using street furniture as canvases has brought a touch of colour to a major revitalisation project in Perth’s east end.

For the competition, 65 planter boxes and benches from Barrack Street to Irwin Street were painted with a WA theme by local artists.
